Establishment of Kafi

Establishment of Kafi for Development

Born from a shared conviction that communities deserve more than charity,
Kafi for Development offers a sustainable Islamic model that turns
solidarity into long‑term empowerment.

The Beginning of Kafi for Development Kafi for Development was founded on the belief that poverty cannot be addressed through temporary aid, but through a comprehensive development approach rooted in economic empowerment and social solidarity—guided by authentic Islamic values.

As a non-profit, volunteer-based organization, Kafi aims to combat poverty and unemployment in Somalia and the Horn of Africa through sustainable Islamic financing tools such as Qard Hasan, zakat, waqf, Islamic finance, and social protection funds.

Since its official launch in Mogadishu, Kafi has developed innovative financial and economic programs that align with contemporary needs while staying true to Islamic jurisprudence—creating a unique model of development based on thoughtful planning, compassion, and community solidarity.

Today, Kafi looks ahead to expanding its impact across the Horn of Africa, driven by a vision to build just, sustainable economic systems that empower individuals and communities to thrive.
