Ahmed Mohamed Hussain began rebuilding his economic life from the skills he already had, receiving an opportunity to turn his skills into a sustainable business.
Ahmed previously worked in the repair and maintenance of household appliances, such as washing machines, refrigerators, and other electronic devices.
When a customer called him, he would go to their location to inspect the appliance. After identifying the problem, he would purchase the required parts and then return to repair the appliance. He did not have his own shop where he could obtain the tools and parts needed to repair his customers’ appliances.
Although he had the skills and experience, this way of working required a great deal of his time and energy.
As part of our livelihood support, we provided Ahmed with a fully equipped electronic appliance repair shop (Electronic Appliance Repair Shop), enabling him to carry out his work in one place, with the tools he needs and the skills he already possesses.
“Before, when a customer called me, I would go to them and inspect the appliance, tell them what the problem was, then purchase the required part and return to repair it.
I did not have my own shop where I could get the tools and parts needed to repair my customers’ appliances, and this used to take a lot of my time and energy.
Now, I have my own shop and all the tools I need. I have the skills, and now I have the equipment, so I can work better and develop my business, allowing me to pay the rent for my home and cover the living expenses of my children. Alhamdulillah, I am very happy.”
Today, Ahmed has his own workplace, complete equipment, and the skills he already possessed—allowing him to work more efficiently, earn a regular income, and continue growing his business.
Ahmed’s story shows the importance of supporting people with tools and opportunities built around their existing skills, helping them achieve a stable economic life and move toward self-reliance.
