Establishment of Kafi for Development
Born from a shared conviction that communities deserve more than charity, Kafi for Development offers a sustainable Islamic model that turns solidarity into long‑term empowerment.
The idea began in 2020 as a grassroots initiative by individuals devoted to community development, Islamic finance, and social justice. They believed the poor need tools—not mere handouts—to reclaim dignity and build lasting change.
Guided by this vision, Kafi positioned itself as a bridge between solidarity and empowerment, combining giving with investment. It launched programs and funds rooted in Islamic financial instruments such as Waqf, Zakat, Qard Hasan, and other ethical financing models.
Official operations began in Mogadishu, Somalia, steadily expanding partnerships and impact nationwide. Our ambition now reaches across the Horn of Africa—and ultimately the wider Islamic world.
By blending Islamic authenticity with professional governance and social adaptability, Kafi has crafted a unique identity, emerging as a promising model of modern Islamic development work.
